Another Kavanaugh accuser has talked to Maryland authorities, report says

A witness to another alleged assault in high school has come forward to Maryland authorities.

A possible fourth person has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, Maryland law enforcement officials told a Maryland newspaper.

An anonymous witness told Montgomery County investigators over the weekend about another incident that occurred when Kavanaugh was in high school, according to a Monday report in the Montgomery County Sentinel.

In a response to this report, the Montgomery County Police Department put out a statement that said it had not received a request from an alleged victim to start a criminal investigation — though it’s unclear if the witness from the Sentinel’s report is an alleged victim.

“At this time, the Montgomery County Police Department has not received a request by any alleged victim nor a victim’s attorney to initiate a police report or a criminal investigation regarding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh,” the statement said.

Montgomery County prosecuting attorney John McCarthy told the Sentinel that authorities are working to determine if the alleged incident happened within the county. “We are prepared to investigate if the victim wants to report to us, and we can determine it occurred in the county,” he said.

It’s the latest in a series of sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh.

In a letter earlier this month, Christine Blasey Ford initially anonymously told Democrats in Congress that Kavanaugh had assaulted her while they were both in high school. She went public with her allegations last Sunday. A second woman, Deborah Ramirez, who attended Yale with Kavanaugh told The New Yorker that the Supreme Court nominee exposed his genitals to her without her consent.

Michael Avenatti, the attorney representing adult film star Stormy Daniels, said Sunday that he was representing a third client who had accused Kavanaugh, his childhood friend Mark Judge, and more men of “targeting of women with alcohol/drugs in order to allow a ‘train’ of men to subsequently gang rape them.” Avenatti later said that the woman has worked in the U.S. government and had “multiple security clearances” in the past.

Montgomery County investigators told the Sentinel it was unclear if the alleged victim reported to them was a different person than Avenatti’s client.

Though President Donald Trump has refused to direct the FBI to investigate allegations against Kavanaugh, officials in Montgomery County — where Kavanaugh’s high school Georgetown Preparatory School is located — have said they will investigate any complaint brought against Kavanaugh.

The White House has so far denied allegations against Kavanaugh and insisted the claims are a targeted smear campaign against the Supreme Court nominee. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, who was also nominated by Donald Trump, cleared the nomination process with little difficulty.
