If you have ever wanted to play Kim Jong-un as he battles the US military — without the added stress of a real life nuclear holocaust — you're now in luck.

Glorious Leader! is an in-development video game that allows gamers to play as a pixilated version of the North Korean leader and, according to its creators, “defeat waves of imperialists, combat over-the-top bosses, and ride unicorns!” Played over seven levels, it consists of Kim Jong-un battling American troops through the streets of Pyongyang, set to retro 1980s arcade music.

The game is currently being developed by Moneyhorse LLC, an Atlanta-based video game company, and is expected to be finished at the end of 2014.

The trailer for Glorious Leader! shows a miniature two-dimensional Kim Jong-un riding a flaming unicorn, shooting down American paratroopers, riding on the back of a dolphin, and burning an American flag. At one point, the Statue of Liberty sinks in the background as Kim shoots at an American tank.

The trailer ends with Kim Jong-un hanging out on a basketball court with — who else — Dennis Rodman. Both Kim Jong-un and Rodman’s avatars are toting guns.

The creator of the game, James Miller, told the Guardian that Moneyhorse was trying to "carefully walk the line of satire without being an apologist for the regime." Miller added that the reaction to the game has been relatively uncontroversial, but he has been surprised by the amount of South Koreans asking when it will be available in their country.

North Korea and South Korea have been staring each other down for nearly 70 years. What happens when one of them finally blinks?
