DID YOU KNOW THE average SALARY of a 25-year-old investment banker ranges from £40,000 to £60,000 a year? Usually they'll make the same amount in bonuses.

Sure, the 100-hours-a-week regime is brutal but if they're tough enough to last ten years in the game, they'll be taking home more like £750,000 a year. And that doesn't include the business trips, houses, cars and Ming vases full of golden nuggets that most bankers are given from clients.

The one consolation that drones like you and me can derive from this story is that only about 5 per cent of all investment bankers last more than five years working like that without falling to pieces.

"You get screamed at every day and the pressure to succeed is just too much for most people to handle," our banker friend Jackson (see over page) told us.

"Making money is all you're allowed to think about. It drives you totally fucking crazy. I hate my life."
