Noisey Met Up with H.R. from Bad Brains

Turns out he's BFFs with Beyonce.

H.R. doesn't stand for “Human Resources”, it stands for “Human Rights” and is the name of the singer from legendary D.C. hardcore band Bad Brains. If you don't know who Bad Brains are, I'm not going to explain. They're essentially royalty in the hardcore world and if you're unaware of their existence then you're an uneducated disgrace. Besides, their Wikipedia entry is only a Google search away.

Ahead of the release of the new Bad Brains documentary, A Band in D.C., Noisey met up with H.R. for a chat. Aside from fronting one of the most highly regarded HxC bands to have ever existed, penning anthems such as “Pay to Cum” and “Banned in D.C.”, recording vocals down the phone whilst in prison on a cannabis charge and being just about our favourite person alive, it turns out H.R. also has pretty close ties with Usher, the Jay-Z-and-Beyonce-family and goes waaay back with the smoothest cat to ever sing the soundtrack to Space Jam, R Kelly. Also a man from the Smithsonian told him to stop doing backflips and handstands.
