One Person Shot Dead and Two Injured as a Standoff Ends in Sydney

Special operations police have locked down a large industrial park in Ingleburn, south-west Sydney, after a single gunman shot one person dead and injured two others at a sign writing company.

Reporters on the scene at the InLine sign factory on Heald Road have confirmed the gunman is dead. Three hostages held inside the building have also just been released.

Police were called to InLine around 10:45 AM Monday morning when nearby workers heard five gunshots ring out. "Upon arrival police found three males, one deceased and two others with gunshot wounds," a police spokesman said. The deceased man, 43, was found in the business's driveway.

Hundreds of people working inside the factory were evacuated as police established a one-kilometre exclusion zone around the industrial park. Locals were told to stay inside their homes.

"The two men with gunshots wounds have been conveyed to Liverpool Hospital," a police spokesman said. One of the men is currently undergoing emergency surgery, while the other has superficial wounds on his legs.

Just before 3 PM, a man and a woman were lead through the barricade by police.

Police have declined to comment on what might have caused the shooting, telling reporters the situation was at a "delicate stage" and that the operation is ongoing. One man has been arrested for "hindering" police at the scene. Further details on who this was or what they were doing are unclear.
