According to Mr. Aria, the people of Manchester have not been very welcoming to him. He told the Daily Telegraph: "I try to ignore people, but I'm fed up now. I don't get the respect I should here. People are not friendly here in Manchester. When they are rude to me, I don't like it."Greater Manchester Police said the incident was "strange" and described Aria as "angry" in a series of tweets. Officers later tweeted an update to followers: "Man arrested demanding deportation (fed up after 10 yrs in Manchester) may have to find own way home; was released after immigration liaison."Having previously held roles as both a waiter and barman, Arash Aria said he is now unemployed. Despite learning of his status as a permanent resident, Mr. Aria plans to return to his home city of Shiraz in south west Iran upon renewal of his expired Iranian passport.
