LEDs, app design, and gesture control interfaces collide in a new MIDI keyboard called Keys from instrument design group Opho. Having already developed the smartphone-enabled gTar to teach beginners how to strum, Keys' is first and foremost a tool for beginning piano players, complete with a Guitar Hero-like companion app. The gesture-controlled sensors embedded above the keys make things more interesting. Their demo shows an artist waving his hands over the Keys to control a drop, and the input can be completely customized to a DJ's body whims. This puts a theremin-like control in one easy to use, portable instrument.Visit the Keys website for more information, or to preorder your own set.Related:These 20 Unorthodox Instruments Are Making the Music of the FutureCustom Built Orchestra Uses Instruments Made From Fallen Tree Branches And Pierced Light BulbsHere's a Short About a Synth Made of Rubber Ducks and Jelly BeansWearable Digital Instruments That Can Be Played Through Movement
