The Tallest Ever College Basketball Tipoff Was a Total Dud

Tall with shortcomings.

You would think that with two 7'6" players going for a tipoff, somebody would get a piece of the ball. But instead, we are left with a perfect symmetry of incompetence, and a first point of contact that even Muggsy Bouges's grandson could pull off.

Yes, last night's game between University of Central Florida and UC Irvine featured the tallest tipoff matchup in NCAA history: UCF's Tacko Fall vs. UC Irvine's Mamadou Ndiaye—both of whom are Senegalese. (Just look at the referee in comparison!) And yet it was a complete and utter vertical failure. Fall ended up with six points, seven rebounds and four blocks on the night, whereas Ndiaye walked away with five points and two rebounds. Not a mind-bending night from either of the tall guys.

This all happened after UCF went through hell and back again to keep Fall from being sidelined for academic reasons. Not exactly a Taco Fail, but close enough. The young recruits still have time to make up for a few shortcomings.
