Eastern Kentucky Moves Football Game After Threatening Graffiti Found on Campus

Eastern Kentucky had to move the location of tomorrow night's football game because of a cryptic death threat scrawled on a bathroom wall.

Eastern Kentucky University has moved the location of Thursday night's football game against Tennessee Tech to Georgetown College (KY) after a cryptic death threat was found scrawled across a wall on campus. The message, which appears to say "KILL ALL BY 10-8-15 THIS BU OOP," was found in a men's bathroom in the Powell Building at EKU on Sunday, October 4, and reported early the following morning. Since then, the school has been investigating the threat, working in concert with local and federal law enforcement, and has offered a $10,000 reward for the "identification, arrest and conviction of the responsible person or persons."

EKU did not cancel classes initially, but as the investigation continued into mid-week—and as worries grew, due to the unsettling proximity to both the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon and the armed altercation at Philadelphia Community College—the school announced all campuses would be closed from Wednesday through Friday. It made arrangements to play the game about 40 miles away at Georgetown College.

Though rare and disturbing, this isn't the first time a game has been effected by threats of this nature. Several high school football games across the country—including in Kansas, Michigan, and Ohio—have been cancelled in the last month due to safety concerns.
