Suspended FIFA No. 2 Jérôme Valcke Expected Multi-Million Dollar Payoff Prior to His Exit

Ah, the hubris of the tragic anti-hero.

Just a week before getting suspended amidst a ticket sales scandal, former FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke reportedly asked for a multi-million dollar payout from the world soccer governing body for . . . all his hard work at corruption?

According to the Guardian, the Frenchman, who in July announced his plans to retire in February along with his buddy Sepp Blatter, wanted full compensation for the entirety of his contract, which ends three years from now. In 2007, Urs Linsi, the man who preceded Valcke, was compensated $5.8 million upon his exit.

Unlike Valcke, Linsi wasn't accused of selling thousands of tickets for upwards of five times the price in some underhanded backdoor dealings with a sports marketing agency. The Guardian reports that Valcke, after hearing of the accusations yesterday, had his private jet turned around just so he could outright deny all allegations. Ah, the hubris of the tragic anti-hero.
