There’s a baby on the Senate floor, and that’s not a Ted Cruz joke — it’s two-week-old Maile Pearl Bowlsbey, the daughter of Sen. Tammy Duckworth, and the first real baby to ever set diaper on the floor of the hallowed chamber.

Maile was allowed on the floor after a Senate vote Thursday cleared the way for the historic moment, making her perhaps the first person to exit the building after a vote with a near-perfect approval rating.

Chuck Schumer, who is not a baby, reportedly saw Maile pass by and remarked, “The press is finally interested in something worthwhile." Mitch McConnell, on the other hand, by all appearances melted.

“McConnell wouldn't stop smiling while sitting down leading up to Duckworth coming into the chamber with her baby. When she was there being greeted by her colleagues, he slowly walked up to offer his congrats — still smiling,” according to CNN’s Daniela Diaz.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the baby has 10 fingers, 10 toes, and a cute as hell Senate-approved little outfit on.

But Maile's appearance wasn’t as perfect as her little face — in the days leading up to the vote, some older, male legislators voiced objections, including Sen. Orrin Hatch, who summed his position up with the question, "But what if there are 10 babies on the floor of the Senate?"

We can only hope we find out some time in this lifetime.
