Verified McDonald's Twitter feed calls Trump “a disgusting excuse for a president”

A verified Twitter account linked to the McDonald’s corporation created a stir on Thursday morning when it sent out a strongly worded and heavily partisan tweet describing Donald Trump as a “disgusting excuse for a president.”

“We would love to have @BarackObama back,” the tweet continued, “Also you have tiny hands.” On the campaign trail, Trump’s unusually small hands became a frequent source of ridicule.

The post was sent at 8:16 a.m., pinned to the top of the McDonaldsCorp Twitter feed, and then deleted about 19 minutes later.

It’s unclear who sent the tweet, but McDonald’s did issue a statement saying its Twitter account had been compromised.

The tweet did not significantly impact the company’s share price as of Thursday morning.

The president — who is reportedly very sensitive about his hand size, as well as comparisons to his predecessor Barack Obama — may bristle over the tweet. He’s responded harshly to corporate criticism in the past.

Moreover, Trump has made no secret of his affinity for Big Macs, and has often extolled the virtues of fast-food restaurants because of their uniform standards and cleanliness (he’s a known germophobe). He even appeared in a McDonald’s commercial in 2002.
