We were in North Korea during its latest failed missile launch

We were in Pyongyang while North Koreans celebrated the 105th anniversary of founder and former leader Kim Il-sung.

This segment originally aired April 17, 2017, on VICE News Tonight on HBO.

North Korea’s “Day of the Sun” is a national holiday marking the birthday of the country’s founder, Kim Il Sung, the grandfather of Kim Jong Un. The occasion is used to parade North Korea’s highly synchronized soldiers and latest weaponry. And this year, VICE News staffers were among the few foreign journalists invited to the celebration.

We were on the ground in Pyongyang for the military parade and the country’s failed missile launch that North Korea attempted just hours after the celebration.
