Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye was hauled off by police during a rally in Kampala on Monday, three days before national elections set for Thursday.

The brief detention of a Ugandan opposition leader and presidential candidate has triggered violence in Kampala. Riot police faced off with supporters of Kizza Besigye after his vehicle was towed from a rally in the capital city on Monday. The East African nation is scheduled to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on February 18.
