Watch Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney review Ed Sheeran and Marilyn Manson

This segment originally aired Feb. 21, 2017, on VICE News Tonight on HBO.

This week on High Standards Music Corner, Carrie Brownstein, founding member of the legendary punk band Sleater-Kinney, wishes Ed Sheeran could be in love with a woman’s brain, instead of her body.

“It would be cool if … he’s just talking about, like, oh my God, the hippocampus is so big,” she said.

Besides Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” Brownstein also gives her thoughts on:

  • “T-shirt,” by Migos
  • “Cupid Carries a Gun,” by Marilyn Manson
  • “Drew Barrymore,” by SZA

Sleater-Kinney is an all-woman punk rock band formed in Olympia, Washington, in the mid-’90s. After going on an eight-year hiatus in 2006, the band made a much-celebrated comeback in 2014 and have since released one studio album, “No Cities to Love.”
