Orbital ATK’s Antares rocket successfully launched Monday evening from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. This was the second attempt for the Antares program; the first attempt, in October 2014, exploded seconds after launch.The Antares rocket is carrying a Cygnus cargo capsule bound for the International Space Station, loaded with more than two tons of food, supplies, and science experiments, one of which involves studying the phenomenon of “cool flames” — low-temperature fires with no visible flames.Cygnus is scheduled to make contact with the ISS on Oct. 23 and stay connected until Nov. 18, when it’ll head back to Earth, carrying 1.5 tons of trash to be incinerated upon re-entry.
