Iraqi forces are using consumer drones to fight ISIS

In the skies over Iraq, drones have become a part of nearly every military mission, guiding troops toward enemy targets and keeping them out of harm’s way.

But some Iraqi forces don’t have the same advanced technology the American-led coalition has, so they’ve had to rely on consumer drones as their eyes in the sky. They may look like toys, but these small, inexpensive drones are playing a crucial role in the fight to take back Mosul from ISIS.

VICE News correspondent Seb Walker met with Lt. Col. Hussein Moeid of the Iraq Federal Police to learn more about how consumer drones have become instrumental in the fight.
