WATCH LIVE: The House votes on the GOP's tax plan

Congress is expected to pass the Republican tax plan and send it to President Trump's desk

The House of Representatives is convening now to vote on the Republican tax plan.

The Senate is expected to vote on Tuesday evening, and Congress may send the bill to President Trump’s desk for final approval as soon as Wednesday.

And though the bill is expected to sail through, it’s not popular: 56 percent of Americans oppose the tax plan and only 22 percent think it will lower their taxes, according to a VICE News/Survey Monkey online poll. Trump has promised repeatedly to lower taxes on the middle class, one of his most-touted campaign promises, along with lowering the statutory corporate tax rate.
