Yes, Trump really is fighting with a lawyer for Kavanaugh's accuser on Twitter

So much for staying above the fray.

The president of the United States is in a Twitter battle with a lawyer representing two women who are going after his administration.

On Wednesday, Michael Avenatti released a sworn statement from his client, Julie Swetnick, in which she claimed that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh had attended a party during which she was gang raped while incapacitated by alcohol, and she suspects, drugs.

Swetnick claimed that Kavanaugh but this kind of sexual assault was commonplace at parties attended by Kavanaugh and his wingman Mark Judge, and she said in a sworn statement that she has a “firm recollection” of both Kavanaugh and Judge waiting in line to participate in other such assaults.

Trump responded to Swetnick’s claims by calling her a liar.

“Avenatti is a third rate lawyer who is good at making false accusations, like he did on me and like he is now doing on Judge Brett Kavanaugh,” Trump tweeted. “He is just looking for attention and doesn’t want people to look at his past record and relationships - a total low-life!”

Because it’s 2018, Avenatti, who is also representing porn star Stormy Daniels in her case against Trump, tweeted directly in response to the president.

“‘False accusations?’ Like those crimes your fixer Cohen pled to? You are an habitual liar and complete narcissist who also is a disgrace as a president and an embarrassment to our nation,” Avenatti tweeted. “You are so inept that your ‘best and brightest’ are Cohen and Giuliani. Let’s go.”

Avenatti later extended his criticisms to Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Lindsey Graham. Avenatti tweeted at all three: “Are you three privileged, white men calling my client Julie a liar? How dare you attack a sexual assault victim. She has risked her life to do the right thing. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Your actions are disgraceful.”
