This Taiwanese factory is helping Apple use more recycled metals

Taiwan's recycling programs are some of the most advanced in the world. But the country's political isolation means that no one really knows about it.

In April, Apple told VICE News that it would “one day” like to build its products without using any mined metals. But despite its good intentions, Apple didn't offer an explanation for how it would achieve that ambitious goal.

Still, the company appears to be forging ahead, and it just so happens that one of its suppliers of recycled metals is based in Taiwan, where the business of recycling is taken very seriously. VICE News visited the tin recycling factory to understand why the Taiwanese people are so good at recycling — and why their success has been overlooked by the international community.
