The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Tuesday revealed that it seized 104 firearms between Feb. 5 and Feb. 11 — a record number of guns discovered by the agency during the span of a single week.A staggering 87 of those 104 firearms were loaded, the TSA statement said, and 38 had a round in the chamber.One traveler in Anchorage, Alaska, even tried to carry-on two one-pound canisters of gunpowder, which the TSA notes on its website is "prohibited from both carry-on and checked bags, for obvious reasons."“Real, inert, or anything resembling an explosive item is prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage,” TSA notes.The previous one-week record was set in July 2017, when TSA agents discovered 96 firearms in carry-on bags.Trying to board a plane with a gun in your carry-on could come with fines greater than $13,000. Laws vary from state to state, but gun owners are allowed to check their firearms, by following TSA procedures.The weekly record tracks with annual seizures, which are also trending upward.
