A Palestinian man wielding a knife and a gun went on a rampage in Jerusalem on Saturday, killing two Israelis and wounding two others, including a two-year-old child.

All four victims are members of an ultra-Orthodox family, Haaretz reports. They were near the Lion's Gate in Jerusalem's Old City, on their way to the Western Wall when the assailant struck.

Israel's Channel 10 reports the gunman was a 19-year-old named Muhannad Shafiq. Police told Al-Jazeera he was from al-Bireh, a Palestinian city in the central West Bank near Ramallah, about nine miles north of Jerusalem.

According to the Channel 10 report, Shafiq stabbed one man multiple times, then took his gun and fired it at the man's family and a group of tourists before he was shot and killed by Israeli security forces.

Paramedics told Haaretz one of the victims, a woman in her 40s, sustained serious wounds, while the toddler was being treated for minor cuts.

The incident comes on the heels of an attack in the West Bank on Thursday, during which an Israeli couple was shot dead in their car in front of their four children.
