Facebook to testify before the Senate on Nov. 1

Facebook will appear at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Nov. 1 related to Russian interference in the 2016 election, the company confirmed Wednesday to VICE News.

The heads of the committee, Sens. Richard Burr, a North Carolina Republican, and Mark Warner, Democrat of Virginia, announced the hearing on Capitol Hill. Twitter executives will also testify, the company confirmed.

Facebook has already turned over thousands of ads that the social media company says were seen by “an estimated 10 million people” on the platform.

Chairman Burr said last week that it wasn’t necessary for Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself to appear.
