A woman was detained on homicide charges in New York City yesterday, accused of injecting a 22-year-old college student with butt injections that led to her death last summer.

An NYPD spokesperson told VICE News that Tamira Mobley, 28, was arrested on Monday and charged with first-degree assault and second-degree manslaughter. According to reports, Tamara Blaine was found lying in bed and foaming at the mouth on July 8, 2013, after Mobley injected her with illegal silicone.

Blaine was found at the Liberty Hotel in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, where rooms can be booked by the hour. The hotel advertises itself as "Your rendezvous for romance."

The coroner's office ruled Blaine's death a homicide in October when the autopsy showed puncture wounds on the victim's ass. Mobley was not detained until Monday and was arraigned on Tuesday morning at Manhattan Criminal Court.

A January VICE story explored the bizarre world of underground ass injections.

This type of procedure, often carried out by people without proper medical licenses, is surprisingly common. It can result in disfigurement, medical issues, and death. People have been injected in the ass with a variety of store-bought ingredients, including industrial silicone and concrete. Many choose to undergo dangerous and life-threatening butt injection procedures done by unlicensed practitioners in an attempt to save money on big butts.
