Somebody please inform Jay Z Trump had a bad week

It's a messy administration that loves drama — and this week was no exception.

• Multiple reports emerged that Trump had tried to fire special counsel Bob Mueller — which the Senate mulled over making it more difficult for him to do months ago.

• Trump (notably without Melania at his side) gave an “America first” speech to world leaders gathered at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He denied that he’d ever thought about firing Mueller and attacked the “nasty, mean, and vicious fake” press to a mixture of boos and laughter.

• Trump asked his millions of Twitter followers to “please inform” Jay Z about how the president has lowered the black unemployment rate, after the rapper criticized on CNN the president’s comments about “shithole” countries in a recent meeting on immigration

• Trump asserted that he’s “very popular” in the U.K., a country the president refused to visit in past weeks. He’s reportedly spooked by possible protests of his visit — enough so that he delayed a visit.

• The White House insisted that Trump didn’t force FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, a longtime target of the president’s criticism and veiled threats, to step down from his position suddenly after saying he’d retire in March.

• Trump shocked lawmakers when he announced he wouldn't be slapping any new sanctions on Russia. Read more here about why experts say the move amounts to a “big pass” to the Kremlin.

• Trump said the U.S. is no longer interested in talks with the Taliban. Funny thing is, getting the Taliban to talk is precisely the U.S. strategy in Afghanistan.

• Trump signed an executive order to keep the controversial military prison at Guantanamo Bay open.

• The president also delivered his first State of the Union speech, which he later said was the “most watched” of all time. (It wasn’t.)

• He mostly stuck to his script but still managed to touch on all of his greatest hits: rebuilding the U.S. nuclear arsenal, ending the opioid epidemic, and kicking out the foreign criminals. Read more about how Trump’s speech failed to unify the parties, as promised, here .

• Trump was caught on a hot mic after his speech saying that he “100 percent” would declassify the Nunes memo, which he claims reveals proof of the FBI’s bias toward the president. He may or may not have read said memo. Read more about how Democrats and Republicans have fought over its release here. Even former spies think releasing the memo will cause a “train wreck” for intelligence sharing.

• Porn star Stormy Daniels offered her own State of the Union in a statement that she never had an affair with Trump, despite previously describing it in graphic detail. She later denied her own denial.

• CNN reported that Trump had asked if Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein — the only guy who can fire Mueller — was “on [his] team.” Former FBI Director James Comey said Trump pulled a similar move on him before firing him.

• The Trump administration announced it would allow 6,900 Syrian refugees — those who have continuously lived in the U.S. since Aug. 1, 2016 — to remain in the country for another 18 months.

• Trump released the infamous Nunes memo that has consumed Washington for the past two weeks. Read the full report on the Nunes memo here .

• Trump’s feud with U.S. intelligence agencies got even more bizarre when he tweeted that leaders of the FBI and Justice Department (mostly Republicans that he appointed) had “politicized the sacred investigative process in favor of Democrats and against Republicans.”
