2017 was a hell of a year that somehow seemed to last for an eternity, yet still passed by quicker than Anthony Scaramucci's White House tenure. It was also the year of the internet villain, as countless people, businesses, and things spent the year one-upping each other in an unwitting quest for the title. And with so, so many worthy nominees, it’s going to be a tight race.

Twitter, for example, became a strong contender after doubling the character limit for double the online harassment, though it's a tight race against Equifax, whose monumental data breach was enabled by an unbelievable chronology of company mismanagement. And don't forget FCC head Ajit Pai, who emerged as a fan favorite for after managing to both defeat net neutrality and turn many of his personal heroes against him in the process.
