President Donald Trump, facing mounting opposition over his administration’s policy of separating immigrant children from their parents and detaining them at the border, went on a Twitter tirade Monday morning to lambast Germany’s handling of its migrant crisis and blame Democrats for his own policies.Trump criticized Germany and asserted that German citizens were turning against the government over its immigration policies. Trump also falsely claimed that crime in Germany “is way up.” (Just last month, Germany recorded its lowest crime rate since 1992.)

In a series of tweets, Trump went on to tacitly acknowledge his administration’s practice of seizing undocumented children from their parents and detaining them in prison-like compounds near the border, part of the new “zero-tolerance” policy enacted a few weeks ago.
Trump has repeatedly blamed Democrats for the children’s detainment, even though it is a practice implemented by Trump and his team.
