A man reportedly shouted comments about Syria during a knife attack that left one person seriously injured on Saturday night at a London Underground station.

Video from the scene showed pools of blood on the floor and panicked bystanders in the Leytonstone station in northeast London. The attack occurred at around 7pm local time. The Guardian quoted Laurynas Godvisa, a witness who reportedly saw the attack occur, as saying the attacker shouted, "This is what happens when you fuck with mother Syria all of your blood will be spilled." Other witnesses who described the attack on Twitter mentioned the attacker making a comment about Syria. The British Parliament voted on Wednesday to begin airstrikes on the Islamic State in Syria.

"As I walked down I just saw a lot of people running but I ignored it and kept walking to get my train, but suddenly what I saw I couldn't believe my eyes and what I saw was a guy with a knife and a dead guy on the floor," Godvisa reportedly said.

Another video from the scene showed a bystander shouting, "You ain't no Muslim, bro," as police arrested the suspect.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that they respond to reports of a stabbing and a male suspect threatening other people with a knife. The case is being investigated as a "terrorist incident," police said.

"We are treating this as a terrorist incident. I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant," Commander Richard Walton, who leads the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, said in a statement.

Police said a man was arrested at 7:14pm and and taken to an east London police station where he remains in custody. The statement said one officer discharged a Taser during the encounter.

Police said one man sustained serious knife injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. Two other people sustained minor injuries.
