Trump loves the military, he just doesn't know what it's called

Trump pulled another tweet and delete after embarrassing himself with typos

President Donald Trump adores the Marine Corps, he just has no idea how to spell it.

The president lavished praise on U.S. troops yesterday at the Marine Corps’ Air Station in Miramar, calling Marines the U.S.’ “most powerful weapon” and boasting his administration was “stacked with Marines.”

Yet despite trumpeting himself as the military’s biggest supporter, Trump mistakenly spelt "Marine Corps" as "Marine Core" in a since-deleted tweet Tuesday evening.

Veterans ridiculed the president on Twitter, joking about whether the president was introducing a new abdominal workout. But others interpreted the mistake as a sign of disrespect for the military.

And VoteVets, a veterans organization said, “Maybe General Kelly can get a copy of the Grammar for Marines MCI for you.”

Trump's tweet was replaced with one using the correct spelling roughly a half hour later.

The president frequently engages with the Marine Corps, arguably more than any other branch of service, and his day-to-day reflects that: Defense Secretary James Mattis and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly are both Marines, and as the Washington Post points out, Trump frequently flies on the ‘Marine One’ helicopter, piloted by Marines.

The White House did not respond to VICE News’ request for comment on who first noticed the mistake and whether it was Trump or an aide who tweeted the mistake.
