Trump just sold a plane to Norway that only exists in "Call of Duty"

Behold the mighty "F-52"
Activision: Call of Duty

President Donald Trump made a few remarkable claims during a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg at the White House Wednesday afternoon. He called special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between Russia and his 2016 presidential campaign a “Democratic hoax,” once again questioned the credibility of previous investigations into Hillary Clinton, and even suggested that Democrats should've won the election — because of their advantage in the Electoral College.

But one comment — initially lost under the pile of questions surrounding whether Trump will ever agree to an interview with Mueller's team — stands out from the rest: “In November, we started delivering the first F-52s and F-35 fighter jets,” Trump said, proudly celebrating the “$10 billion” order that had already delivered a few jets.

Funny thing, here. F-35s exist — the U.S. is selling 52 of them to Norway, in fact — but there’s no such thing as an F-52, not unless Trump is an avid player of the popular video game franchise Call of Duty.

Trump talked up America’s close ties with Norway, a NATO ally that shares a border with Russia, while Solberg described the purchase as her country's “largest single public investment ever.” NATO has beefed up its military presence along the European-Russian border in the wake of Russia's annexation of Crimea. And the continent has seen some of its largest war games in recent decades.

Such a mistake for a commander-in-chief who has dropped bombs on the Middle East at a record rate in his first year in office was not lost on Twitter users or gamers.

If this fighter jet ever moved beyond the pixelated plane of video games, rest assured, it would be a beautiful plane — the best plane ever.
