Ohio police used tear gas on hundreds of revelers that gathered to celebrate Ohio State University's college football national championship victory Monday night.

The fans turned riotous in the wake of their team's 42-20 win over the University of Oregon, setting nearly 90 small fires across Columbus, Ohio, and tearing down a goal post at Ohio Stadium after midnight Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

Across the Ohio State University campus, riot police moved to disperse rowdy students and others with pepper spray and canisters of tear gas. The mob broke up and began going home within two hours.

Authorities made a handful of arrests, and the local fire department responded to three reports of injuries. Celebratory gunfire also reportedly broke out, though no injuries were reported from the shots.
