State of emergency declared as Chile battles wildfires

Chile has declared a state of emergency as the country battles historic wildfires.

President Michelle Bachelet called for international help combating the almost 40 wildfires plaguing the country. Unusually hot temperatures and an ongoing eight-year drought are complicating efforts to bring the fires under control. So far, almost 300,000 acres of woodland have been torched.
