We've been making news documentaries since 2007. The VICE News Archive highlights some of our favorites.
In 2012, VICE News correspondent Gelareh Kiazand searched Kabul for illicit gambling rings where men bet on quail fights, buzkashi (like polo, but with a headless goat), and dog fights.
But first she had to find Dardar, the only figure in Kabul's gambling world who could get our crew into the betting circle. After that, it was a simple matter of getting kicked out of a mosque, traveling to a bird market, and meeting the trainers, breeders, and gamblers involved in these illicit activities.
