Watch the first White House press briefing since Trump fired Comey

Sean Spicer's Navy Reserve duty couldn't have come at a more strange and tumultuous time.

Sean Spicer’s Navy Reserve duty couldn’t have come at a more strange and tumultuous time.

After refusing to go on camera Tuesday to brief the press about his boss’ abrupt firing of FBI Director James Comey, Spicer will, once again, miss his scheduled briefing for a trip to the Pentagon. In his place, principal deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders — who gave her first on-camera briefing just last Friday — will stand at the podium.

Sanders, the daughter of Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, will likely face tough questions regarding the president’s decision to dismiss Comey — a move many are calling unprecedented. A growing number of Congressional voices are also calling for an independent investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

Watch Sanders’ briefing below.

Trump’s decision to fire Comey came just months after he confirmed to Congress that the FBI was, in fact, investigating Russia’s efforts to sway the U.S. election in Trump’s favor as well as any collusion between the president’s campaign and the Kremlin.

Trump, however, apparently let Comey go because he failed to bring criminal charges against Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server.
