Jared Kushner, the president’s senior adviser and son-in-law, denied accusations that he and others in the Trump presidential campaign colluded with Russia.“Let me be very clear: I did not collude with Russia, nor do I know of anyone else in the campaign who did so,” Kushner said, speaking to reporters at the White House after a closed-door conversation with the Senate Intelligence Committee Monday morning. “I had no improper contacts.”He went on to defend Donald Trump’s presidential victory, saying it was a legitimate win, not a case of Russia tipping the scales.“Donald Trump had a better message and ran a smarter campaign, and that is why he won. Suggesting otherwise ridicules those who voted for him,” Kushner said.Kushner is on the Hill this week to speak with the House and Senate intelligence committees for their investigations into Russian election meddling, after it came to light that he’d been in several meetings with Russians during the campaign, including the one organized by Donald Trump Jr. in June 2016.Earlier today, Kushner also provided his account of that controversial meeting with Russians in Trump Tower, via a written statement he released to Congress in advance of his testimonies.Kushner also meets with the House Intelligence committee tomorrow, where his comments will be considered sworn testimony, unlike Monday’s meeting.
