Melania Trump is threatening a Croatian school for using her face in an ad

First lady Melania Trump is threatening legal action against a school in Croatia over billboards that features her face with the slogan, “Just imagine how far you can go with a little bit of English.”

The billboards had been put up in the capital city of Zagreb by an English-language institute advertising its programs to locals. Instead, they attracted the attention of Trump’s lawyers, who are now threatening a suit over using the first lady’s image without her permission, the Associated Press reports.

The school apologized and removed the billboards Tuesday, which it implied were an innocent ad campaign, saying that Trump is “the most recognized emigrant to the U.S. from this region.”

“We are very sorry that the billboards were misunderstood as something intended to mock the U.S. first lady,” Ivis Buric, a spokesperson for the school, told the AP. “It was meant to be something positive, to show her as a role model.”

Buric added that the campaign, though short-lived, was “very successful.”

Trump’s lawyer, Natasa Pirc-Musar, said that the school had admitted wrongdoing, but that the apology might not be the end of it.

“I’m satisfied with the fact that the school admitted that they violated the law and that they are ready to remove the billboards and [Facebook] ads,” Pirc-Musar told the AP. Still, she said, “We are analyzing possible further legal steps.”
