Over 80,000 people joined Taiwan's LGBT Pride Parade

Taiwan’s annual Gay Pride Parade attracts a massive turnout making it the biggest one in Asia. This year, over 80,000 people joined in and many paraders had one message: legalize same-sex marriage.

The legislative fight for marriage equality in Taiwan dates back to 2003 and several draft bills since then were repeatedly stalled. A new set of draft amendments that would allow same-sex marriage were submitted by lawmakers on October 24. With growing political support, many activists and government officials are optimistic Taiwan could become the first country in Asia to legalize gay marriage.
