Philippine protesters bulldozed by police van

About 1,000 protesters gathered outside the U.S. embassy in Manila on Wednesday to call out the presence of U.S. troops in the Philippines. Police attempts to disperse the crowd turned violent when a patrol van plowed into the protesters, injuring many of them.

President Rodrigo Duterte has been critical of the U.S., straining ties between the former colonial power and the United States. He is currently in Beijing on a visit seen by some as an effort to build new alliances.
