This 30-year-old Democrat is riding the anti-Trump wave to flip a conservative Georgia stronghold

When Tom Price became secretary of Health and Human Services in February, he left a vacancy in Georgia’s 6th Congressional district — and a mere 18 candidates are vying to fill it. A 30-year-old Democrat, Jon Ossoff, is one of them.
Ossoff’s campaign is anything but ordinary. The young candidate is running parts of his campaign out of his parents’ house, but he’s got big Democratic money behind him. Democrats think he’s their only hope to flip Georgia’s 6th district, and the race is being watched as a test case of how much they can run against Trump in the midterms.
While Ossoff is running as an ardent opponent to Donald Trump, he’s cautious about isolating himself from his Republican constituents. When asked about leading the anti-Trump wave, Ossoff clarified: “A vote for me is a vote for me, before it is a vote against the president.”
