The Trump administration’s attempts to suppress research on science from climate change to vaccines has become a call to action for many usually apolitical scientists. And one grassroots activists organization, 314 Action, is trying to get them elected to public office.The organization recently held a conference for over 100 researchers to teach them how to run a campaign and appeal to voters.“I feel like President Trump is the gateway drug for scientists engaging in policy,” said Gretchen Goldman, a research director for the Union of Concerned Scientists.VICE News attended the conference to learn what it takes to get out of the lab and into public office.This segment originally aired April 24, 2017, on VICE News Tonight on HBO.
