Watch Obama's first public speech since leaving the White House

In his first public address since leaving the White House, former President Barack Obama will apparently avoid one topic in particular: his successor, Donald Trump.

In both his public and private, paid speeches, Obama doesn’t plan to criticize the current administration, according to his aides, who felt any disapproving words run the risk of galvanizing more support for Trump.

That includes his address on Monday at 12:00 p.m. ET at the University of Chicago. The event will instead focus on “community organizing and civic engagement.” Six young leaders from around the city will join Obama on stage, according to the Chicago Tribune, and area schools and organizations that work with minorities received tickets.
