We went to Lee Harvey Oswald's birthday party with a Trump confidant

This segment originally aired Oct. 18, 2016, on VICE News Tonight on HBO.

JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald would have been 77 years old last week, and a dedicated group of believers in his innocence gathered in Harahan, Louisiana, to throw him a birthday party. VICE News correspondent Michael Moynihan joined them for cake and conspiracy theories.

Oswald never fired a shot on Nov. 22, 1963, the government hired an Oswald body double, someone else shot Officer Tippit, and this “coup d’état” has been covered up. That’s what the conspiracy-oriented partygoers said happened. Five decades after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the event’s gravity still attracts endless fascination and investigation.

The marquee speaker of the event was prodigious author, Donald Trump confidant, and self-described “conspiracy realist” Roger Stone. Moynihan gets access to Stone’s birthday speech and then sits down with him over martinis to discuss Trump, conspiracies, and who “really” killed the 35th U.S. president.
