Quick Hit: Russia Clears Land Mines Following Palmyra's Recapture

Russian demining experts are clearing explosive devices in and around the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra, days after its recapture from Islamic State militants.

Russian bomb squad units in central Syria are clearing land mines from the UN World Heritage site after it was recaptured from the Islamic State. Militants had reportedly laid thousands of mines during their retreat from the city, home to some of the most extensive ruins of the Roman Empire.
